Haggar hits 80 million milestone, E-Clo line upcycles millions of plastic bottles thanks to Repreve

Menswear apparel brand, Haggar Clothing, has now up-cycled more than 80 million plastic bottles through its apparel line E-Clo, which includes the LK Life Khaki brand. The line contains a blend of cotton and Repreve which is made from recycled materials, including post-consumer plastic bottles.

Ford is finding a new use for about 2 million plastic bottles. By collaborating with REPREVE, Ford now offers customers the green option of seat fabric made with recycled materials. Each Ford Focus saves 22 plastic bottles from the landfill.

Unifi and Repreve Award Grants to Keep America Beautiful Affiliates in Home State of NC

Unifi, maker of 100-percent recycled Repreve yarn, has donated funding through its Repreve Recycling Grant Program to four Keep America Beautiful affiliates in North Carolina to increase plastic bottle (PET) recycling. This grant program, focusing on local community-based plastic bottle recycling programs, is the first by Unifi with Keep America Beautiful. Grants were awarded to one western and three eastern North Carolina communities for outstanding proposals to increase recycling in public spaces.

Bottle ban means business

No, the trash police aren’t on the way to your house. But on Oct. 1, it will be illegal for plastic bottles to find their way into North Carolina landfills. Keeping bottles out of landfills here should increase supplies of recycled bottles available to be turned into items such as more bottles, carpet and pricey outerwear. “The more people who engage in recycling plastics, the more that’s going to help companies like Unifi take advantage of a cost-competitive product,” said Roger Berrier, an executive vice president with the Greensboro-based textile maker. Repreve Takes a Uniform Approach

Perfection Uniforms has chosen Repreve, the 100% recycled fibre by Unifi, for its latest collection of uniforms and workwear. The manufacturer of police, fire, and EMS uniforms, which was recently designated as one of Apparel magazine’s ‘Top 50 Most Innovative Companies’, has selected the Repreve family of polyester yarns, which have been independently certified for 100% recycled content by third-party auditor Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).
