Made with 100% Sustainable Fabric
Ford started using sustainable fabrics in its cars in 2009. Recently, Ford decided to use only fabrics that are 100% sustainable in any vehicle with an eco-friendly powertrain, like the Focus Electric. The fabric in the Ford Focus Electric is made from a Repreve hybrid blend. It contains pre-consumer fiber manufacturing waste, and recycled plastic PET bottles.
A Continuing Commitment
As one of the largest carmakers in the world, Ford is committed to “reduce, reuse, and recycle” to shrink the company’s overall environmental footprint—globally. From front grill to back bumper, Ford continues to explore using nonmetal recycled and bio-based materials whenever possible.
Other innovations include: castor oil foam in instrument panels; wheat straw-filled plastics, recycled resins for underbody systems; and natural-fiber plastic for interior components. At the same time, the company has been accelerating the development of fuel-efficient vehicle technologies around the world. Look for Repreve in upcoming Ford models.
