Q:

Q:
What is Repreve?
A:
Repreve is synthetic yarn made from 100% recycled content. Unlike many other recycled yarns, the recycled content is certified by an outside party. Repreve is available in both polyester and nylon.
Q:
What's the difference between Repreve and other recycled yarns in the market?
A:
Unlike many other recycled yarns, Repreve is made completely of 100% recycled materials and meets Unifi's first quality standards when compared to virgin products. Repreve is third-party certified for its claim of 100% recycled content by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).
Q:
What's the difference between Repreve and fibers made from virgin materials?
A:
There's just one important difference: Repreve is made from recycled materials.
Q:
What recycled materials is Repreve made from?
A:
You can count on the fact that Repreve is always made from 100% recycled materials. Repreve polyester is made from a unique combination of pre-consumer and post-consumer waste. Repreve nylon is made from pre-consumer waste.
Q:
How is Repreve made?
A:
Repreve is made from 100% recycled materials. This is our process in a nutshell: Waste is collected. The waste enters a unique material conversion process, where it is chopped, melted, and reformulated to form a 100% recycled chip. The Repreve chip then enters a proprietary extrusion and texturing process to form 100% recycled yarn, Repreve. Go to

or

Q:
What's next with the Repreve family of 100% recycled yarns?
A:
Our technologies, products, and practices keep evolving. It took years of research and development to perfect the Repreve process. Now that we have it, we're going to build on it—because it's the right thing to do. We will continue to expand our Repreve family of 100% recycled yarns.
Q:
How does Repreve conserve natural resources?
A:
Repreve reduces energy consumption and conserves petroleum-based resources by offsetting the need to produce virgin polyester and nylon.
Q:
Does Repreve use post-consumer plastic bottles?
A:
Yes, Repreve polyester does. Repreve polyester yarn uses both pre-consumer waste and post-consumer waste. Each pound of Repreve polyester uses approximately four 20 oz. post-consumer PET bottles, such as those used for water, soda, and other beverages.
Q:
What's the difference between pre-consumer, post-consumer and post-industrial waste?
A:
Pre-consumer waste and post-industrial waste are terms that are used interchangeably. Pre-consumer and post-industrial waste is recovered or separated from the waste stream during the manufacturing process, before it reaches consumers. Post-consumer waste has been separated from the waste stream after consumers have used it.
Q:
What environmental causes does Repreve support?
A:
Repreve is a member of 1% For The Planet, a growing global movement of companies that donate one percent of their sales to a network of environmental organizations worldwide. We've pledged to give one percent of Repreve sales to selected causes from their network. Please visit
Repreve Gives Back
to learn more about the specific causes we support.
Q:
What's third-party certification? What organizations certify Repreve?
A:
A third-party certification provides an independent, objective review of a company's product claims and environmental performance. Repreve is third-party certified for its claim of 100% recycled content through Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). Every year, SCS performs a full examination of our recycled products, including our recycling process, production records, and manufacturing operations. SCS is a leading third-party certifier and standards developer of environmental and sustainability claims. Repreve is also Oeko-Tex certified. Oeko-Tex is a well-known international eco-label offering "Confidence in Textiles." Repreve is tested and qualified to ensure that it is free of harmful levels of more than 100 restricted chemicals.
